Technology has made fitness so much easier. The three most beneficial apps for your fitness journey:

MyFitnessPal

Most everyone’s main fitness goal is some variation of “lose body fat”.

To lose body fat, you need to be eating fewer calories than you’re burning in a day (a calorie deficit).

Two ways to go about this:

  1. Guess at how many calories you’re eating. Hope to lose some fat.
  2. Track your calories. Know how many calories you’re eating. Definitely lose fat.

So yeah, tracking your calories is a good choice. Even if you’ve never tracked before, MyFitnesspal makes the process super simple and painless.

Headspace

One of the biggest killers of progress in the gym? Stress.

Stress comes in many forms. Work, relationships, a challenging workout, the list goes on.

A bit of stress from a hard workout? Good. Forces your body to change.

Too much cumulative stress from any of these areas can significantly hinder your gym performance, and your life.

Problem is, we’re all constantly stressed out. We’re so connected to everything around us, it’s hard to unplug. It’s overwhelming sometimes.

Meditation is growing increasingly popular because it gets us out of our heads. It pulls us back into the present, and dissolves stress simultaneously.

Headspace provides a great intro to beginners to meditation. It allows you to choose tons of different areas to focus on, such as: anxiety, stress, performance, happiness.

Personally, meditation has been a life changer. If you’re struggling with stress or anxiety, I can’t recommend it enough.

FitBit

If you’ve been following Mind Pump, or fitness at all for long, you’ve heard the term N.E.A.T.

N.E.A.T. is basically all the stuff you do outside the gym that burns calories. All your other movement. Just like calories, this is super helpful to track if your goal is fat loss.

As you diet, one of the ways your body attempts to hold onto fat is by reducing the amount of movement you do throughout the day. You’ll subconsciously do less “fidgeting” type movement.

This is a big reason fat loss stalls. Setting some type of daily movement goal helps counteract this.

Even if you don’t have a Fitbit wearable device, you can still download the app and track your daily movement on your phone.

Technology can add so much to your fitness routine. Give these apps a go. You’ll be in better shape because of it.
